They Survived. Then They Became Family.

These are not polished success stories written by us. They are the people who opened their homes, lived through the adjustment, watched trust return, and discovered who these animals became once they were finally safe.

What Home Looks Like.

There is no single version of a happy ending. Sometimes it is a cat stretched across a couch. Sometimes it is a dog learning the neighbourhood. Sometimes the foster family realizes the animal is never leaving.

Families Talk About the Process, Too.

International adoption can feel intimidating. Again and again, adopters describe the same things: communication, honesty, thoughtful matching, and support from the first application through arrival.

Tell Us What Happened Next.

Your update does more than make us happy. It helps future adopters understand what these animals can become once they are safe, and it shows donors what their support makes possible.

What adopters say

“This Must Be Home and Family.”

We were looking at local rescues to adopt, and became very interested with a photo of “Bravo.” Seeing the photo on Petfinder, we had no idea that she was 7,000 miles away in Baku until we called about her. We had never heard of GWARP, and were immediately skeptical. We researched them, and didn’t see any red flags, but just a lot of distance and questions. Alison helped to put us at ease by always being just a text or call away, and told us Bravo’s story, along with her rescue photo, and let us know how the process worked. All legit, no credit cards, and recognized and respected by our US government and the ASPCA.

We decided to bring Bravo to the US on a foster basis, until we knew for sure that she and our other dogs would get along. When Bravo (now Tater Baku) arrived, she was gorgeous and healthy. We couldn’t believe how beautiful she was, for all the trauma she had been through as a stray puppy in the streets of Baku. GWARP had transformed her into the most lovable and healthy dog, and we fell in love with her.

The first couple of days at home with our corgi and coonhound were a bit touch and go, (as expected), but after that they all became besties and were snuggling and playing together. We laughed at her every morning because when we got up and Tater saw us, she zoomied all around the house and then came to us for hugs, pats, and kisses, as if to say, “Oh boy! You’re still here, and I’m still here! This must be home and family! I’m so happy!”

After two weeks of life with Tater Baku, we made it official and adopted her, and payed our fee via Venmo to GWARP. It’s been just over two months now and we can’t imagine our home without her. I think our other dogs feel the same. Tater seems to appreciate every little thing she has here, and says “thank you” all the time with her eyes and kisses. She’s extremely healthy, smart, and has learned commands and rules quickly. Our vet is impressed as well! Tater has never even pottied in the house!

It may cost more, and the flight over here can be tough (pretty sure Tater thinks it was well worth it), but I’d recommend GWARP to anyone looking to adopt. It’s horrible how animals are treated in the streets in Azerbaijan, and they have no laws to protect them. I thank God for Farid and everyone there pouring their hearts into saving these precious beings. Blessings to all who help.

Mike and Robin · Fostered, then adopted Bravo, now Tater Baku

From “Beyond Horrific” to Tears of Joy.

I adopted my lovely bipawd pup, Luke, from GWARP recently. Words can’t express the gratitude I have to everyone at GWARP for saving Luke’s life and never giving up on him. I remember bawling when they first found him because his condition was beyond horrific. Now, I can’t stop crying tears of joy that I have Luke in my life. And the reason I have him is because of the angels at GWARP doing everything possible to save him. There is nothing they wouldn’t do.

Thank you also to Kerry and Kamilla for helping me throughout the adoption process. You are truly hero’s for helping these animals.

Thank you for giving Luke a second chance!

Irina Selick · Adopted Luke

Saved. Cared For. Flown Across an Ocean. Home.

I am so thankful for GWARP and all the amazing work they do! They truly never give up on an animal and rescue the most in need on a regular basis. Because of them, I have a happy, healthy (and furry!) best friend, Isaac. They saved his life, cared for him, flew him over seas, and brought him to me. They are amazing!!

“We Are Very Lucky to Have Adopted Percy.”

We are very lucky to have adopted Percy! This is an excellent rescue who truly cares about the animals. I have only good things to say about everyone involved with helping these pets.

Lisa Dawson · Adopted Percy

I cannot say enough good things about the GWARP Foundation. Adopting Fredo and Cindy from them has truly changed my life in the best way possible. From the very beginning, the adoption process was easy, smooth, and filled with so much care and love.

Fredo and Cindy fit into my family perfectly, like they were always meant to be here. They have brought so much joy, comfort, laughter, and love into my home. I love both of them more than anything in this world, and I’m forever grateful to GWARP for giving me the chance to be their person.

You can tell how much this foundation cares about the animals they rescue. They don’t just find them homes — they help create families. Fredo and Cindy are proof of that. They are so loved, so cherished, and I’ll always be thankful to GWARP for bringing them into my life.

Andrew Gegenheimer · Adopted Cindy & Fredo, now Indy & Fredo

GWARP is beyond the most amazing animal rescue and organization there is!! I have never met such loving and caring people! They save them all and go above and beyond for every animal in their care! We adopted from them in June and the process was smooth and easy! They gave us the most perfect girl! It’s amazing how quickly she acclimated to a completely new life in such a short time! We took her to the vet a few days after we got her and the vet was so impressed how healthy she was! An absolute perfect and clean bill of health! That goes to show how well they are taken care of before they come over!! I can’t recommend this organization enough!! Sahara now known as Sammie has been a dream the second she got here! Thank you for saving her! Thank you for taking such perfect care of her!!!! Thank you for every single animal you save!!!

Lauren Schorr · Adopted Sahara, now Sammie

Our first foster experience was with GWARP and it was such an easy (and exciting) process to go through! Except it was a #fosterfail because we decided to keep the furbaby for ourselves. These dogs have so much love to give! This new dog looks amazingly like our other dog and many people think they are related! They get along like two peas in a pod. We love our new addition and really appreciate all the work GWARP does for these neglected animals.

Amy Waldowski · Fostered, then adopted

We adopted our sweet Layla from GWARP and couldn’t be happier of our choice! Even though she came from so far away, the process was smooth and GWARP was with us every step of the way. We love Layla, she is exactly as she was described in her bio! She’s a lovebug, she loves everybody and everybody loves her back. She’s so sweet and calm, and just craves affection! She loves her walks and hanging out with us. She’s very well socialized, with people and with dogs that we meet on our walks. She’s also very good with our cats. I’m in awe at all the work that they do at GWARP to help out so many dogs that desperately need it! I’m happy that I was able to do my small part and give Layla a new life here in Montreal! We love her so much!

Martine Lecole · Adopted Layla, in Montreal

We recently adopted a dog from Azerbaijan through Good World Animal Rescue and Protection - GWARP. After reading about the treatment of street dogs in Azerbaijan and also learning about the sweet temperament of the dogs being adopted, we contacted GWARP about adopting one of their dogs that I found on petfinder. I highly recommend this rescue agency. They are fast to respond to questions and were communicative during every step of the adoption process. GWARP cares intensely about the dogs that are being rescued and adopted. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Our new dog Milan is absolutely beautiful, polite and a fast learner. He charms everybody that he meets. We feel so fortunate to have found GWARP and our newest member of the family.

Danielle Ruane · Adopted Milan

Thank you GWARP for helping us find our sweet kitty, Maurice! He is the best and we are so lucky to have found this amazing organization. Ten out of ten!

Hannah Warner · Adopted Maurice

We adopted Zephyr, our saluki/husky mix from GWARP. Zephyr was flown in directly from Kuwait and GWARP went above and beyond in making sure the process went smoothly and communicated with us throughout the process. I could not recommend them more.

Alex Linzer · Adopted Zephyr, from Kuwait

When our family decided it was time to adopt another cat, we specifically chose GWARP because of its mission. Knowing we could change the life of an animal with no other opportunities made our decision an easy one.

GWARP guided us through a thoughtful, transparent process and took the time to understand our home, family, and resident cat. Together, we agreed Bima would be the perfect fit.

Providing him with a safe, loving place to land has been one of the most meaningful things our family has ever done. Four years later, we remain in contact and continue to support GWARP because we have seen their compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication firsthand.

Alissa Lance-Byrne · Adopted Bima in 2022

Excellent! From the start of filling out the adoption application right to the end with the final adoption of “Buddy” our new family fur member! Every question answered with honesty and devotion to making sure you have picked the right dog, making sure the match between dog and family is the right one. Huge shout out to Kerry! Absolutely amazing! She left nothing uncovered, un talked about and a prompt response back to every text! Thank god for volunteers like her! They are the people who make these great dogs find their forever homes! So thankful!!!!

Kristin Lacross · Adopted Buddy

Adopting my cat through GWARP was an incredibly positive and meaningful experience. From the beginning, it was clear how deeply they care about every animal and about matching each one with the right home, and they were detailed about my cat’s history and personality. Throughout the process, they were kind, responsive, and supportive. My cat arrived healthy, confident, and full of love, proof of the care she received before coming home. I’m so grateful to GWARP for the beautiful work they do and for bringing this amazing little soul into my life.

David Grenham · Adopted a cat through GWARP

GWARP saved Lizzy’s life and we were so fortunate to be able to adopt her!! GWARP worked with us to ensure she would be able to travel. They talked with us about Lizzy’s imperfections and made sure we were the right family for her. They not only saved Lizzy physically GWARP restored her faith in humans. Lizzy loves everyone she meets and when we are in our front yard Lizzy waits for visitors to come by! Hopefully she will be getting a companion from Azerbaijan soon!

Deanna Midday · Adopted Lizzy

I adopted Ryan in 2022, and I would do it all over again. Everything was in order and very professional. What GWARP does for animals is amazing.

Samira Sammoun · Adopted through GWARP

This rescue saves the most pitiful and severe cases of helpless pets - ones that have been abused, injured and horribly neglected. It welcomes the most needy, despite the cost and challenges. It never gives up on them. Bridget, a young dog who tragically lost both of her hind legs and tail, is just one of their success stories, who is now living and thriving in the U.S., surrounded by love and affection. Her happy ending is because of this rescue which saved a maimed dog from the streets.

Anna Lavelle · On Bridget’s rescue

I follow GWARP for years now. I’ve contributed donations as well. Extremely reputable and really such a hard working and caring rescue. The rehabilitations I’ve seen them do is almost miraculous. They truly care so much for these animals. No matter how sick or injured they put their all into helping them. They work tirelessly. They have saved animals on the brink of death that are now living in happy homes thanks to GWARP. 10/10 rescue if you want to adopt or If you’re considering a nonprofit to donate some of your income to. They deserve all the support.

Manda Cappt · Supporter and donor

The passion dedication and compassion that the team of GWARP has is so touching and I love watching the progress all the animals make thanks to them... it breaks my heart to read the stories but when I see them getting better it makes me so happy for them ... thank you to everyone at GWARP for all the amazing work you do.
