Saving the Lives Others Call Hopeless.
GWARP exists for the animals facing the worst cruelty, the most severe injuries, and the fewest options.
Because Suffering Should Never Be a Death Sentence.
Good World Animal Rescue and Protection (GWARP) is a New York–registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2019, working for the animals facing the most severe cruelty, neglect, injury, disability, and abandonment — the cases others call hopeless.
GWARP's New York headquarters coordinates fundraising and transportation, while the team and physical shelter in Azerbaijan rescue and care for animals in immediate danger.
The organization focuses on severe cases: animals who have been burned, struck by cars, paralyzed, blinded, used in dogfighting, abandoned in old age, or left with injuries others will not treat.
For Thousands of Animals, There Is Nowhere Else to Go.
Stray animals in Azerbaijan have little meaningful protection. They face hunger, speeding cars, attacks, deliberate cruelty, poisoning, shooting, and government culling — with few shelters or veterinary resources available to save them.
GWARP was founded in 2019 to bring international attention and direct aid to the animals who had been forgotten. Rescue is only the beginning: recovery can take months, and sanctuary may last a lifetime.
- 5,000 + stray dogs and cats spayed or neutered
- 700 + animals currently protected in GWARP's care
- 600 + animals flown to new lives in the US and Canada since 2019
We Stay for the Whole Journey.
- Emergency rescue Removing animals from the street, abuse, danger, and overcrowded city shelters.
- Medical care Diagnostics, medication, lifesaving surgery, wound care, and ongoing treatment.
- Rehabilitation Time, nourishment, mobility support, socialization, and patient recovery.
- Sanctuary A permanent safe home for animals whose age, disability, or history makes adoption unlikely.
- International adoption Preparing and transporting animals to foster and forever homes across borders.
- Severe cases Fighting for paralyzed, blind, disfigured, and medically complex animals others leave behind.
Fifteen Brown Bears Are Safe Because GWARP Said Yes.
GWARP also cares for brown bears rescued from illegal or abusive captivity. Sanctuary is a promise: safety, food, care, and dignity for the rest of an animal’s life.
Rescue Is Not Enough if Nothing Around Them Changes.
We also work beyond the shelter: bringing animal welfare into community spaces, supporting education and youth engagement, advocating for humane treatment, and helping people see rescued animals as lives worth protecting.
Outreach is part of prevention. So is our spay and neuter work. The goal is not only to save the animal in front of us, but to reduce the suffering that creates the next emergency.
Give Them the Chance to Live.
There is no guaranteed funding behind this work. Donors make every rescue, treatment, meal, and safe night possible.
