The Honest Answers.

International rescue is complicated. The reasons for doing it are not.

Who is GWARP?

Good World Animal Rescue and Protection is a New York–registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2019. GWARP focuses on the animals facing the most severe cruelty, neglect, injury, disability, and abandonment—cases often considered hopeless.

Why Azerbaijan?

Stray animals in Azerbaijan have little meaningful protection and limited access to rescue or veterinary resources. GWARP was founded to bring international attention and direct aid to animals suffering from injury, hunger, abuse, and government culling.

What animals does GWARP help?

GWARP rescues dogs and cats, including dogfighting survivors, animals who have been burned or hit by cars, paralyzed and blind animals, seniors, and those with severe injuries or neglect. The shelter also provides sanctuary when adoption is not possible.

Why does GWARP rescue at-risk dogs in New York City?

GWARP became a New Hope Partner with NYC Animal Care Centers in November 2024. This allows the rescue to pull at-risk dogs from an overwhelmed shelter system and place them into safety through foster and adoption networks.

Can I adopt an animal rescued abroad?

Yes. GWARP places animals in the United States and Canada, and in some cases the United Kingdom. The team manages the international travel process and guides adopters through pickup or onward transport arrangements.

Where do animals arrive in the United States?

Dogs may arrive through major airports including JFK, IAD, ATL, MIA, LAX, and PHL. Cats typically arrive through Chicago O'Hare and may be picked up there or transported onward. Flight options can change, so GWARP confirms the plan for each adoption.

Are animals healthy before they fly?

GWARP aims to complete treatment before international adoption and does not fly animals who are medically unfit for travel. Exceptions may be made when specialized treatment—such as prosthetics or complex eye surgery—is only available after arrival.

Does GWARP need fosters and volunteers?

Yes. Foster homes are especially important in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania for dogs pulled from NYC shelters. GWARP also welcomes volunteers; contact the team at contact@gwarp.org.

How can I donate?

You can give through GWARP's secure donation page, PayPal, Patreon, Zelle, Benevity, or by check. Donations support veterinary care, food, shelter, rescue, rehabilitation, and transportation.

Are donations tax-deductible?

GWARP is a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by U.S. law. EIN: 84-3779390.

How do I change or cancel a monthly donation?

Recurring donations are managed through the platform used to make the gift—Bloomerang, PayPal, Patreon, Zelle, or Benevity. GWARP cannot change donor settings held by those third-party services.
