Sana may only have three legs, but she's got enough personality for four!
At just 18 months old, this adorable 30-pound Dachshund/Labrador mix has already overcome more than most dogs experience in a lifetime. But you wouldn't know it from meeting her. Sana is a happy, playful, affectionate little girl who loves people, enjoys life, and has absolutely no intention of letting anything slow her down.
Sana comes all the way from Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic where countless stray and abandoned animals struggle to survive without adequate protection, shelter, or veterinary care. Through Good World Animal Rescue and Protection (GWARP), dogs like Sana are given a second chance. We rescue animals facing heartbreaking circumstances, provide the medical care they desperately need, and arrange for them to travel to Canada, where loving families can offer them the safe, happy futures they deserve.
Sana's journey has been anything but easy.
She was found in Ganja, Azerbaijan, in critical condition after being struck by a car. The accident had severed one of her front legs, and she had sustained severe injuries that required extensive veterinary care. Her recovery was long, but thanks to the dedication of her rescuers and veterinary team, Sana healed beautifully.
Today, she's healthy, thriving, and ready for the one thing she's been missing: a family of her own.
And what a little character she is!
Sana is gentle, playful, and wonderfully affectionate. She loves being around people and will happily follow you from room to room, making sure she doesn't miss a thing. If there's an available lap, don't be surprised when she decides it belongs to her!
She's also a curious little busybody who likes to know exactly what's happening around her. And she's not shy about offering her opinion! Sana can be a bit barky, particularly when there's something interesting going on. She's got places to be, things to investigate, and apparently some very important announcements to make.
As for her missing leg? Sana has adapted beautifully. She runs, plays, climbs stairs, and gets around with confidence. She doesn't need anyone to feel sorry for her. She just needs someone to love her.
Although Sana has spent much of her young life in a shelter, she's also experienced life in a foster home, where she's shown that she can settle into a household routine. Like any rescue dog adjusting to a new environment, she'll appreciate a little patience while she learns the rhythms of her forever home.
Sana's adoption fee is $2,000 USD. This reflects the considerable expense of rescuing, providing veterinary care for, preparing, and transporting a dog from Azerbaijan to Canada. International rescue is an enormous undertaking, and adoption fees help GWARP continue giving vulnerable animals the chance at a life they might otherwise never have.
Sana isn't looking for anything extraordinary. She doesn't need special treatment or a family with experience caring for disabled dogs. She just wants the simple things she's missed out on: a soft place to sleep, someone to follow around, a yard to explore, a lap to curl up in, and people who will love her for the rest of her life.
Sana has already fought so hard for her chance at life. Now she deserves the chance to truly live it.
She survived the unimaginable, but her story shouldn't be defined by what she lost. It should be defined by everything still waiting for her.
The adventures. The cuddles. The silly moments. The feeling of finally being home.
Could you be Sana's happily ever after?
